Nancy Ruiz de Gamboa, Associate Commissioner for Administration

Since 2014, Nancy Ruiz de Gamboa has served as the Associate Commissioner for Administration at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.  She oversees the administration and accounting for the Bureau’s $600 million plus budget and financial resources, as well as the BLS human resources management program, which provides the full range of personnel services covering 1,500 federal employees in the national office. She provides direction to facilities, space and physical security management for the BLS national office housed in the historic Postal Square Building. She leads the BLS performance management review, analysis and reporting process, management information systems, statistical policy, and program review functions.

From 2003 to 2014, Ms. Ruiz de Gamboa served as the Assistant Inspector General for Management and Policy in the Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Labor, where she led the administrative, planning, and policy functions. She also directed the office’s liaison functions with Congress, the Administration, and other government entities and supervised all media-relations activities. From 1990 to 2003, Ms. Ruiz de Gamboa served in multiple positions of increasing responsibility within the Office of Inspector General, carrying out or managing a number of responsibilities, including strategic planning, performance measurement, budget formulation, external reporting, and congressional and media relations.

Ms. Ruiz de Gamboa received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland with a minor in Economics. Ms. Ruiz de Gamboa has received many awards and commendations throughout her federal service, including the prestigious Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Executive in 2010.
