CES Quarterly Birth/Death Comparison Tables

The tables on this page show the differences between the birth/death forecasts calculated from an annual update of the input data and a quarterly update of the input data. Tables are available from 2004 to 2014. In the tables, the second column titled "Birth Death" indicates whether the data represent the birth/death forecasts produced from annual or quarterly input data and whether that forecast was used in production or was part of a simulation.

From 2004 to 2009, CES used birth/death forecasts based on an annual update of the input data in CES estimate calculations. The tables corresponding to those years compare the annual production birth/death forecasts to simulated forecasts based on a quarterly update of the input data.

From 2010 to 2014, CES used birth/death forecasts based on a quarterly update of the input data in CES estimate calculation. The tables corresponding to those years compare the annual birth/death forecasts produced during the annual review of forecasts to the forecasts used in production based on the quarterly update of input files.

After 2014, CES began adjusting birth/death forecasting to account for quarterly sample implementation in CES estimation and no longer produces birth/death forecasts comparable to prior years using annual input data. Consequently, there will be no further updates to this page.
