The original published table presented case counts rather than incidence rates for the “All other events category.” These data were corrected on July 2, 2019, to present incidence rates. The reporting error affected all employment, hours, and earnings estimates in securities and armored car services (CES Industry Code 60-561610). 01/12/2018 Consumer Price Index Time series Consumer Price Index Database Some incorrect prices for electricity in the Cincinnati area were used in calculating index values from November 2015 through November 2017. Correct prices were used in calculating December 2017 index values. Past indexes computed using the incorrect prices are not being corrected, which may affect the interpretation of the December 2017 index value and percent changes relative to past values for the Cincinnati metropolitan area, the Midwest Census Region, and Midwest size class A cities. The effect on the national index values was negligible.

09/27/2017 National Nonfarm Payroll Statistics (from the Current Employment Statistics Survey) Time series Employment, Hours, and Earnings database The Current Employment Statistics program discovered processing errors in national estimates for women employees and production and nonsupervisory employees series in five basic industries within financial activities, professional and business services, and leisure and hospitality. Errant data range from November 2012 until May 2017; however, not all data during this timeframe were errant. In some months, errors in women employees estimates impacted higher aggregate estimates for women up through total nonfarm; errors in production and nonsupervisory employees impacted higher aggregate estimates for that group up through total private. The errors for production and nonsupervisory employees also resulted in minor errors in hours and earnings because hours and earnings are weighted by the corresponding employment in the aggregation process.

12/14/2016 Injuries, Illnesses, and Fatalities Time series Corrections to Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries data The Bureau of Labor Statistics identified several incorrect national-level fatality rates and hours worked in the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI). The affected data were fatal occupational injury rates and the total hours worked for 12 occupations, 2 industries, and Asian, non-Hispanic workers. The affected data were not in the LABSTAT database, but appear in several BLS products. These products are listed at www.bls.gov/bls/errata/cfoi-errata-2016.htm. As of December 14, 2016, BLS was able to identify errors for the 2014 reference year. BLS is in the process of evaluating previous years to determine if similar problems exist.

12/09/2016 BLS Reports Other publication Women in the labor force: a databook (2012) (2013) (2014) (2015) The 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 editions of the Women in the Labor Force: a databook were reissued on December 9, 2016 to correct errors in five tables. Errors were found in the table describing the work experience of the population (table 22 in the 2013 edition, and table 23 in the 2014 and 2015 editions). Errors occurred in some of the historical data entries for the level and percentage of people "With work experience." Some of the estimates for the 2010–13 period showed the number (and percentage of population) of people who worked or looked for work during those years; the figures were corrected to show only the number (and percent) of people who worked during the year. Errors were found in the table describing the number of earners in married-couple families (table 24 in the 2014 and 2015 editions); errors occurred in some of the historical data entries for both the level and percent distribution of families with two or more earners where the earners are "Wife and other family member." Some of the estimates for levels in the 2011, 2012, and 2013 periods showed an error, which affected the percent distribution; the figures were corrected. Errors were found in the table describing self-employment in nonagricultural industries (table 33 in the 2012 and 2013 editions, and table 32 in the 2014 and 2015 editions); errors occurred in some of the historical data entries for "total employed" and "self-employed as a percentage of total." Some of the estimates for the 2011–14 period showed total employed in all industries; the figures were corrected to show total employed in nonagricultural industries.

Unemployment rates were mostly unchanged, and differed by more than 0.2 percentage point in just one metropolitan area for five months.

The average unemployment level decline was 7.4 percent, and most of the unemployment rate declines were less than 0.5 percentage point.

04/29/2016 State and Local Unemployment Rates Time series Local Area Unemployment Statistics Database On April 27, 2016, corrections were issued for substate areas in Kentucky, as well as eight interstate areas with parts in Kentucky, for January 2016. The establishment-based nonfarm wage and salary employment inputs to household employment were overestimated in Fulton, Harlan, Russell, and Union counties. Employment in all other counties in the state was affected, but the corrections outside of those four counties were relatively small. While unemployment rates were revised upward by between 0.3 and 0.7 percentage point across the four counties directly affected by the employment input corrections, rates changed by no more than 0.1 point in the remaining areas affected, and most had no rate change.

In table 2, on page 3, the participation in stand-alone dental plans should have been 8 percent and with access to stand-alone dental plans should have been 12 percent.

In table 4, on page 5, the full-time annual hours worked should have been 1,857 for service workers in local government. Private industry management, professional, and related full-time workers should have been 1,862 and part-time workers 872 annual hours. The private industry service full-time workers should have been 1,911 and the part-time workers 998 annual hours.

On page 5, the state and local government average employer health cost should have been $6,340.60 per employee and the private sector $3,526.84.

On page 7, the private industry costs for health care in management, professional, and related workers should have been 34 percent higher than service workers. The employer share of health costs for management, professional, and related workers should have been 78 percent.

On page 7, the percent of full-time workers in jobs where the establishment does not differentiate between sampled full-time and part-time jobs when offering health care plans should have been 88 percent.

09/25/2014 Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages Time series On Thursday, September 18, 2014, the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages released updated annual averages for 2013 in several formats, including the CSV file format. Within the CSV files, annual average pay was incorrect by a factor of 10. (For example, $57,000 was shown as $5,700.) This was the only incorrect field within the CSV files. This error was present on the 2013 annual average CSV archives accessible from the Data Download section, the QCEW Data Viewer, and the Open Data Access Files. The incorrect files were removed from the BLS website after 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014. This error did not appear in other QCEW products, such as the ENB text files, the County High-Level files, the Location Quotient Calculator, the State and County Map, and Create Customized Tables. The correct 2013 annual average data available from these sources will remain available to the public. Corrected data files were posted the afternoon of September 30.

The percent of total weeks unemployed while ages 22 to 25, which originally was shown as 68.7 percent, was corrected to say 6.9 percent. This correction to table 4 was made in the PDF version of the release.

On March 22, 2013, tables 1 and 2 were corrected in the HTML version of the release. In table 1, the column for young adults with a bachelor's degree or more incorrectly excluded data from 2010. This entire column has been corrected to include the most recent information from 2010. In table 2 of the HTML version of the release, among high school graduates who had never enrolled in college, the percent of men who were employed civilians, which originally was shown as 81.8 percent, has been corrected to show 81.6 percent; the percent of women serving in the Armed Forces, which originally was shown as 0.5 percent, has been corrected to show 0.7 percent.

The HTML version of this release was reissued on March 27, 2013, to include missing data in table 4. The row for Hispanic or Latino high school graduates who had never enrolled in college, which was incorrectly omitted during the March 22 update, was reinserted with correct data.

These corrections stemmed from data errors for Delaware in January through April 2012 and for West Virginia in January and February 2012.  The errors affected data for other states because of the nature of the estimation methodology for the Local Area Unemployment Statistics program.  All substate areas in Delaware, Maryland, and New Jersey, and some interstate areas shared with the District of Columbia, New York, and Pennsylvania, were affected for the months of January through April 2012. All substate areas in Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia, and the Evansville, Indiana-Kentucky, Metropolitan Statistical Area, were affected for January and February 2012. Three interstate areas that include parts of Tennessee were affected for February 2012. Most of the corrections outside of Delaware and West Virginia were small. 10/20/2011 National Nonfarm Payroll Statistics (from the Current Employment Statistics Survey) News release Real Earnings As initially released at 8:30 A.M., the Explanatory Note of the HTML version of the Real Earnings news release for October 19, 2011 contained some incorrect information. In the section referring to "the deflator used for constant-dollar earnings," the specific Consumer Price Indexes were misidentified. Later in the day, a version of the Explanatory Note with the correct text was posted to the BLS website.

The correct text is: "The deflators used for constant-dollar earnings series presented in this release come from the Consumer Price Indexes Programs. The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Employees (CPI-U) is used to deflate the all employees series, while the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) is used to deflate the production employees series." There were no changes in the data, analysis, or tables of the HTML version of the Real Earnings news release. The PDF version of the news release was not affected.

4/14/2010 National Nonfarm Payroll Statistics (from the Current Employment Statistics Survey) News release Real Earnings At release time (8:30 a.m) on April 14, 2010, the abstract posted to the BLS home page for the Real Earnings news release contained an error. Immediately following the release, the text was corrected and the following abstract was posted:

"Real average hourly earnings for all employees fell 0.2 percent from February to March, seasonally adjusted. This decrease stems from a 0.1 percent decrease in average hourly earnings and a 0.1 percent increase in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U). Real average weekly earnings rose 0.1 percent over the month."
