Stockers and order fillers, 2016-2020


Background

Stockers and order fillers receive, store, and issue merchandise, materials, equipment, and other items from stockrooms or storage to fill inventories or customers' orders. These workers may operate power equipment to fill orders, mark prices on merchandise, or set up sales displays.

As of May 2020, there were 2,210,960 people employed in this occupation. The average hourly wage was $14.91, and the average annual wage was $31,010.

Nonfatal occupational injuries and illnesses

In private industry for stockers and order fillers, there were 31,280 nonfatal injury and illness cases involving days away from work in 2020. The incidence rate per 10,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) workers was 176.2.
