From December 2021 to December 2022, nonfarm payroll employment increased in 81 metropolitan areas and was essentially unchanged in 308 areas. The largest over-the-year percentage gains in employment occurred in Charleston-North Charleston, South Carolina, and Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas (+5.9 percent each), followed by Atlantic City-Hammonton, New Jersey (+5.8 percent).
