Consumer prices in November 2009

Over the last 12 months the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 1.8 percent before seasonal adjustment, the first positive 12-month change since February 2009.

Over the past year, the food index has declined 0.7 percent. The food at home index has fallen 2.9 percent over the last 12 months, but the index for food away from home has risen 2.1 percent. The energy index has risen 7.4 percent over the past 12 months, with the gasoline index rising 23.6 percent.
