Compensation costs for all civilian workers increased 2.0 percent for the 12-month period ending in September 2015. Compensation costs for workers in goods-producing industries increased 2.2 percent while costs for workers in service-providing industries increased 1.9 percent.

Employment costs for wages and salaries increased 2.1 percent for all civilian workers over the 12 months ending in September 2015. Wages and salaries increased 2.4 percent for workers in goods-producing industries and 2.0 percent for workers in service-providing industries. Benefits costs increased 1.8 percent for all civilian workers, 1.7 percent for workers in goods-producing industries, and 1.2 percent for workers in service-providing industries.
