Shining a light on employment in the path of the August 21 solar eclipse
August 21, 2017
All of North America will experience an eclipse of the sun on Monday, August 21, 2017. There are 321 U.S. counties in the path of totality, where the moon will completely cover the sun. This path stretches from the Pacific coast of Oregon to the Atlantic coast of South Carolina. There are 7.7 million jobs and 482,000 establishments in the counties in this path.

Butte County, Idaho, had the highest average weekly wage of any county in the path of totality, $1,724 in the fourth quarter of 2016. Loup County and Hooker County, both in Nebraska, had the lowest average weekly wages among counties in the path.
