White men had an employment–population ratio of 69.5 percent in January 2018, compared with a ratio of 55.5 for White women. Black or African-American men had a ratio of 62.9 percent, compared with 57.9 percent for their female counterparts.
The unemployment rate was 3.9 percent for adult men and 3.6 percent for adult women in January 2018. Unemployment rates for adult White men and women, respectively, were 3.4 percent and 3.0 percent. Hispanic men and women had unemployment rates of 4.3 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively. Black men had an unemployment rate of 7.5 percent, while the rate for Black women was 6.6 percent.
