From June 2017 to June 2018, 32 states had statistically significant changes in payroll employment, all of which were increases. Employment in 18 states and the District of Columbia were essentially unchanged.

The largest percentage gains in employment occurred in Idaho and Utah (+3.0 percent each), followed by Texas (+2.9 percent). Over-the-year employment changes of 2.3 percent or more also occurred in North Carolina, Arizona, Washington, Colorado, and Nevada.
The largest job gains over the June 2017–June 2018 period occurred in Texas (+359,500), California (+269,100), and Florida (+170,500).
