Over this 12-month period, the largest percentage employment gains occurred in Nevada (+3.9 percent), Utah (+3.4 percent) and Arizona (+2.8 percent). Employment increased by more than 2.0 percent in West Virginia, South Dakota, Washington, Florida, Idaho, Texas, and Georgia.
In terms of the number of jobs, the largest gains from January 2018 to January 2019 occurred in Texas (+292,000), California (+246,400), and Florida (+209,500). New York was the only other state where employment increased by more than 100,000 over this period. In addition, employmont increased by 78,000 or more in Georgia, Washington, Arizona, and Illinois.
