A total of 146 workers suffered fatal injuries in incidents involving tractors in 2018. This was the lowest number of work deaths involving tractors on record between 2011 and 2018. Among fatal incidents involving tractors, 103 of the 146 deaths in 2018 occurred to workers age 55 or older, and 67 deaths were to workers age 65 or older.

Among these deaths, 97 workers died from transportation incidents in 2018, with 62 specifically from nonroadway incidents involving motorized land vehicles. Another 47 workers in 2018 died from contact with objects and equipment, with 38 of these deaths due to being struck by an object or equipment.

There were 96 fatal injuries to workers involving tractors in 2018 whose activity at the time of death was vehicular and transportation operations. Another 25 tractor-related deaths involved constructing, repairing, or cleaning.
Farms were the location of 103 tractor deaths in 2018. Another 31 occurred on streets and highways, and 5 took place at private residences.
