Nonfarm payroll employment increased in 129 metropolitan areas and was essentially unchanged in 260 areas from June 2021 to June 2022. The largest over-the-year percentage gain in employment occurred in Atlantic City-Hammonton, New Jersey, at 12.5 percent.

For the year ended in June 2022, four other metropolitan areas had employment increases of at least 7.0 percent: Athens-Clarke County, Georgia (8.4 percent); Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise, Nevada (7.9 percent); Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford, Virginia (7.7 percent); and Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas (7.7 percent).
Nonfarm employment rose in 45 metropolitan areas with a 2010 Census population of 1 million or more and was essentially unchanged in 6 areas from June 2021 to June 2022. Among these metropolitan areas, Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise, Nevada, and Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas had the largest percentage gains, followed by Nashville-Davidson--Murfreesboro--Franklin, Tennessee (6.7 percent); Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida (6.6 percent); and Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land, Texas (6.5 percent).
