Prices for U.S. imports increased 10.8 percent for the year ended in January 2022. Prices for nonfuel imports rose 6.9 percent over the year and 1.4 percent from December 2021 to January 2022. These increases in nonfuel import prices were the largest since data were first published in December 2002.

For the year ended January 2022, import prices for materials associated with nondurable supplies and materials rose 32.5 percent, while prices for finished metals related to durable goods increased 27.3 percent.
Import prices for nonelectrical machinery rose 3.0 percent for the 12 months ended January 2022. Prices for automotive vehicles, parts, and engines increased 2.3 percent, and agricultural foods, feeds, and beverages prices increased 15.8 percent.
