The job openings rate increased in 4 states, decreased in 5 states, and was little changed in 41 states and the District of Columbia on the last business day of July 2022. The number of job openings increased in 6 states, decreased in 5 states, and was little changed in 39 states and the District of Columbia. Over the month, the national job openings rate and number of job openings were little changed.

The largest increases in job openings rates occurred in Tennessee (+1.4 percentage points), California (+0.7 point), and Washington (+0.6 point).
