Louisiana had the highest job openings rate in November 2022, at 8.5 percent, while New York had the lowest, at 4.5 percent. Twenty-seven states had a openings rate greater than the national rate of 6.4 percent.

In November 2022, separations rates were above 5.0 percent in five states: Alaska (7.1 percent), Wyoming (5.6 percent), Montana (5.3 percent), and Louisiana and Tennessee (5.2 percent). New York had the lowest separations rate, at 2.4 percent. Thirty-three states had a separations rate above the national rate of 3.8 percent in November 2022.
Alaska and Wyoming also had the two highest hires rates in November 2022, at 6.2 percent and 5.6 percent, respectively. Thirty-one states had a hires rate above the national rate of 3.9 percent.
In November 2022, 30 states had a quits rate above the national rate of 2.7 percent, while 29 states had a layoffs and discharges rate above the national rate of 0.9 percent.
