Revision to PPI Data for November 2009

November 2009 Producer Price Index (PPI) data as published in the “Producer Price Indexes—March 2010” news release, in the BLS database, and in the March 2010 PPI Detailed Report contained errors caused by a data input mistake affecting 56 data series. These series are listed in the table below, along with the correct index values.

The error associated with the November 2009 index level data only affected the final indexes for November as issued on April 22; previously-published preliminary estimates for November were correct. (All PPIs are subject to revision 4 months after original publication to reflect the availability of late reports and corrections by respondents. The error was introduced when revised November data were issued on April 22.) Indexes for all other data series and for months other than November 2009 are correct as published. Tables and charts indicating percent change between October to November and between November to December will be corrected.

A corrected version of the April 22 PPI news release and the PPI Detailed Report will be reissued. Corrected data will be updated in the BLS database; all corrected data will be noted with an “R” footnote.
